The engineering department has mechanical/CAD engineers, electronics design engineers, software design engineers, technicians, production engineers and administration; many engineers are multi-disciplined (e.g. Software & Hardware).

A major new product, launched last year, allows women with high-risk pregnancies to monitor themselves at home and transmit the trace over a telephone to their hospital for analysis. The same product can be used in ante-natal clinics for routine monitoring, and labour wards. The product is modular, with a common "Host" unit (including touch screen, keypad, printer interface, PCMCIA slot) and interchangeable modules. Another module has been developed for monitoring vascular functions, with development of further modules planned for the near future.

There is a new requirement for further Hardware/Software Engineers. Advantageous skills include a mix (some or all) of embedded processor and analogue circuit design, realtime C, QNX/Unix, assembly language, DSP/Algorithms and real-time embedded C.

The successful candidate's primary task will be continuing the development of the graphical user interface, and supporting database architecture, for the company's virtual-aircraft training system.
